Roco Kingdom Jini Dex: Types, Roles and Tier List
Best early carries, top PvE and PvP picks, role coverage, season exclusives, and where the key Jinies spawn.
You do not need a complete Codex to clear Roco Kingdom. Build one reliable carry, one sustain or support Jini, and one traversal Jini, and you can finish the main story and most open-air content; everything after that is collection and PvP. The Codex holds 450+ Jinies at CN launch and 600+ by Season 3 (CN build), so any "best" list is a snapshot of a moving pool, not a completion checklist. Global numbers will only be confirmed in the Quack Quack Test.
How many Jinies are there, really?
The only figure we can defend is a range: 450+ at CN launch and 600+ by Season 3 (CN build). We do not publish a global count because the CBT build may ship a different pool. For practical purposes, treat the Codex as three layers: the launch pool you can catch in Carosia, the season pool that rotates in through encounter fruits and season shops, and the variant layer (Shiny and Radiant) that sits on top of both.
Codex completion is also your fastest early XP faucet. A new capture gives +100 XP, an Exceptional-Talent capture adds another +100, and evolving that Jini adds +600 — up to 800 XP per line (CN build, launch build; single source). That is why "catch first, sort later" beats walking past a new spawn. The beginner guide covers the first-48-hours route.
What "role" means here
Role is not the same as element. A Jini's role is what it does with its energy each turn: a carry converts energy into damage, a tank holds the field and absorbs turns, a support passes buffs or healing to the next Jini, and utility covers traversal and capture. A six-slot team usually wants one carry, one sustain piece, one support, one utility slot, and two flex slots for the current boss or PvP matchup.
Early carries worth investing in
These are the picks that appear repeatedly across CN guides, not our own ranking. Community consensus is strongest for the first three; the rest are strong but depend on what you already own.
| Jini | Role | Why it earns a slot | Where to get it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Emberkind Bug | Burn carry | Stacks Burn and keeps it from decaying; clears most non-Fire bosses | Rare encounter, or season-shop egg |
| Vargyr | Sustain bruiser | Attack lifesteal, health spent as a resource; very forgiving | Wind Sleep Sanctuary, Mist Peak, Starfrost Cliff |
| Dimo | Magic carry | Story gift with wide coverage; cheap to build | Main story, chapter 2 |
| Fire God | Speed carry | High Speed and stacking damage; starter line | Sparka at level 36 |
| Platinum Unicorn | Magic carry / co-ride | Story egg, Alpha bloodline, seven skills in leader form | Main story egg or Destined Flower Seed |
| Holy Sword-X | Stat-check bruiser | 800+ base stat total (CN build, Season 3; single source); event gift | Level-30 event |
If you can only build one, build Emberkind Bug for boss progression and Vargyr for everything that outlasts your burst. Both are forgiving, both work with cheap supports, and neither needs a perfect roll to function — though the right Nature helps. The cultivation guide explains how much a Nature is worth.
Tanks and supports
Support is the cheapest role to run and the easiest to under-invest in. A support does not need stars; it needs the right skill and enough Speed or bulk to use it before the fight is decided.
- Verdant Lady — the default support tank. It passes its buffs to the next Jini and adds group healing; catch it at Hidden Mudflat after level 30.
- Swan Lady — a pure buffer for open-air challenges. Give it the buff skill and skip Magic Dust entirely; it is not a star-up target.
- Snowshade Frostling — Ice/Cute control piece. Chilled opponents spend extra energy on every skill, and the pressure starts as soon as it takes the field.
- Beast Flower Bud — a bloodline-dependent debuffer: Bug bloodline cuts physical defense, Dragon cuts magic defense, Ground cuts Speed, Cute cuts both attacks, and Fire stacks Burn (single source).
Utility is a real role
Traversal saves more hours than a fifth damage dealer. Gentleman Chicken has a triple jump and ignores fall damage; Winter Feather Bird becomes Mist Bird at level 30 for early flight; Duckiji handles water; Sonic Hound is the fast land mount from level 26; Electric Bleat is a cheap land option. Pick them up while you quest rather than detouring for a perfect roll. The mounts guide covers speed and co-ride differences.
PvP picks are a different list
PvE value does not transfer cleanly to PvP. Community consensus for S1 to S3 PvP includes Devil Wolf as a late-game cleaner, Starfall Rabbit as a star-fall core, Horn Fish as an energy-denial support, Metamorphosis Butterfly as an anti-buff answer, and Wing King in speed variants. Several of these need a bloodline change before they come online — Starfall Rabbit in particular wants a Dark bloodline before level 32. Check the PvP guide before you invest.
Season-limited and version-limited Jinies
This is the only category where missing a season actually costs you something. The S1-era legendary Dragonbreath Pal is encountered in main-story chapter 3, and Wing King is a legendary boss encounter. Season Pass shop eggs have included Emberkind Bug and Starfall Rabbit at 50 Pass coins each (CN build, Season 3). Season 3 added its own regional pool — Night Watch Candle, Chestnut Mouse, Scarecrow, Honeyfruit Husk and Kapo — and CN posts note that seasonal Shiny forms stop being obtainable when the season ends. If you care about variants, grab the season fruit before the reset; the seasons guide explains what rotates.
Two cautions. "Season-limited" does not always mean "gone forever" — the sources are explicit about seasonal Shiny forms, not about base species. And do not treat the season shop as a tier list; it is a rotation, and the egg you can afford is usually the right one.
What to invest in first
- One carry that can clear non-Fire bosses: Emberkind Bug, or Vargyr if you prefer sustain.
- One sustain or support piece: Verdant Lady is the cheapest upgrade to your whole team.
- One traversal Jini, then a second movement type only when a route blocks you.
- One second damage element so a single resistance cannot wall you.
- PvP pieces last — they are the most Nature- and IV-hungry investments on your account.
Resist the urge to star-up every new catch. Magic Dust is the bottleneck, and a 1-star carry with the right Nature will out-clear a 5-star Jini with the wrong one. The cultivation guide explains the order: Nature, then Talent, then IVs, then Bloodline, then stars.
Community consensus, not a tier list: CN guides converge on Emberkind Bug, Vargyr, Dimo and Verdant Lady as the safest early investments. They disagree on everything below that, and the disagreements usually track the season the guide was written in.
