Jini Evolution Guide: Every Evolution Method
Level thresholds, branch and battle-gated evolutions, Leader and Super Evolution, and what carries over.
Most evolutions in Roco Kingdom are a level check. The ones that cost players are branch evolutions and battle-gated lines, because both can lock you out if you level past the trigger without preparing. Decide the branch before the threshold; the CN sources describe no way to undo an evolution.
How evolution works
Evolution is a permanent species change on the same individual. A line usually has two or three stages, and the trigger is a level threshold plus, for some lines, a bloodline or a battle task. Dimo is the deliberate exception: the story Jini does not evolve at all, and that is fine — it stays a usable magic carry. Evolution also pays Codex XP: +600 for evolving a Jini you have already logged (CN build, launch build; single source).
Common level thresholds
Thresholds cluster rather than being evenly spread (CN build, Season 3):
| Level | Evolution |
|---|---|
| 26 | Sonic Hound from Guard Dog; Emerald Jellyfish |
| 30 | Mist Bird from Winter Feather Bird |
| 32 | Flower Shadow Antelope; High-legged Snipe from Snipe Chick; Order Squid Ink with a battle task |
| 36 | Fire God from Sparka; Water Bubble Shell from Cerulla |
| 40 | Emberkind Bug with a battle task |
| 44 | Night Eve |
| 50 | Vargyr |
These are the levels CN guides cite; global CBT values may differ. Check the Codex entry before you pour XP into a line, not after.
One CN guide calls level 30 the soft gate for the whole system: below it, many lines are stuck in their middle stage and cannot reach their final form (single source, CN build, Season 3). That is why the 26 to 36 band feels crowded — several early mounts and starters all resolve within ten levels of each other. Budget XP for the line you actually use, not for every Jini you caught.
Branch evolutions and bloodline gates
Branch evolutions are where preparation matters. Meevy branches into a speed or defense path (single source). Starfall Rabbit is the clearest trap: it needs a Dark bloodline before level 32, so a player who levels first and reads later has to rebuild the Jini. Verdant Lady has a softer version of the same problem — it wants a Dark bloodline after evolving to learn Greed, which changes its sustain plan but not its species.
Branch evolution can also cost a trait. Pink Star loses its co-ride trait when it evolves into Starfall Rabbit (CN build, Season 3; single source). If a trait is the reason you are raising the Jini, confirm it survives the branch first. The cultivation guide covers bloodline changes and potions.
Battle-gated and conditional evolutions
Two named lines in our sources require a battle task on top of the level: Emberkind Bug at level 40 must defeat three Grass Jinies, and Order Squid Ink at level 32 must defeat Dark Jinies three times. Clear the task at the threshold; the sources describe the gate but no way to bypass it.
We have no sourced example of an evolution gated by location, weather, time of day, a held item or another player. That does not prove none exist — it means you should not pre-farm a "weather evolution" item on a guide's word alone. Ask for the exact trigger and check the Codex entry. Co-op does matter for other systems: catching with a linked friend raises capture odds and shares rewards, so a Jini you cannot reach alone is often a co-op problem, not an evolution condition.
Leader Evolution and Super Evolution
Leader Evolution is a separate track from normal evolution. An Alpha bloodline unlocks it, and the Evolution Slate is sold at Annie's Shop. In battle the Jini shifts into its leader form with a new passive and sometimes a wider skill pool — Qili Flower gains 7 energy per turn, and the story Platinum Unicorn can use seven skills as Rainbow Iris. Treat it as a build choice, not a replacement for the level evolution.
Super Evolution is the level-100 capstone in the CN evolution outline. The name is a work translation and the global UI may use something else, so treat it as a long-term goal rather than a build requirement. Do not delay a normal evolution waiting for it.
What carries over
The individual does not reroll. Nature, Talent, IVs, stars and bloodline stay with the Jini; what changes is the species, its base stat spread, its typing and its move pool. That is why a good roll is worth evolving rather than replacing. Two exceptions to remember: a branch can drop a trait, and the evolved form's typing is fixed by the species, so a Jini can change role as it grows.
If you only ever catch the final form, you may never log the base stage in the Codex. Catch the base form at least once if you care about completion.
Can you undo an evolution?
No CN source describes an item or NPC that reverses evolution. Treat every evolution — and especially every branch — as permanent. If you are unsure, stop leveling the Jini; evolution waits for you, but a branch choice does not wait for a rethink. This is also why "rebuild it later" is expensive: you are re-rolling Nature, Talent and IVs, not just re-leveling.
Easy-to-miss evolutions
- Winter Feather Bird to Mist Bird at 30 — the upgrade turns your starter bird into the early flight mount; players who stop at 29 lose the traversal upgrade.
- Guard Dog to Sonic Hound at 26 — the fast land mount arrives early and is easy to forget while questing.
- Vargyr at 50 — it works well enough unevolved in PvE, so it is easy to leave at 49 and assume it is finished.
- Emberkind Bug at 40 with the battle task — the level alone is not enough; clear the three Grass kills.
- Dimo — cannot evolve. Do not hoard resources waiting for a form that is not coming.
Plan the line before you spend XP. The Jini Dex guide lists which of these are worth the investment, and the breeding guide explains how to get a better base roll if you have already committed to the wrong branch.
